Here are a few qualities to look for in a projector:

• how bright? projectors can easily be washed out and hard to see in daytime * how light? when traveling, weight is everything… Obviously weight and brightness are in tension with each other - the lighter, the less brighter, in general * ability to run without a computer - some projectors allow you to load a powerpoint onto a USB drive and run the show without a computer * battery power - there are no battery-power driven projectors, so don't bother looking * remote control - does it come with a remote control that allows you to run the presentation without touching a keyboard * wireless connection to computer - some projectors have a wireless connection to the computer so that you can be seated well across the room from the projector and still direct the show from your laptop * specialized capacity - some projectors are better for videos, etc.; figure out what your specific focus is, if any, and ask how the projector you are considering suits that purpose

If traveling in the mountain areas, at higher altitudes projectors runs the risk of overheating much faster than at sea level or below the recommended altitude. Normally the projector can run for 4-5 hours before overheating. At high altitudes the timeframe is closer to 2-3 hours, but supposedly it can still be used. This appears to be a general rule for projectors and not specific to any model.
