Keyword fields exist in each document category (images, maps, repository, etc.) in the Virtual Shanghai platform. For general guidelines on the use of keywords, see the instructions for each category of materials or institutions.

The major indication for the Wars made Shanghai project is simply to add systematically the 'WMS' keyword for each item related to the Wars made Shanghai project. It can be a new item (e.g. a new photograph you have uploaded) or an existing item in the Virtual Shanghai platform.

The use of a unique identifier keyword will serve three purposes:

- it will allow us to trace all the resources used for the Wars made Shanghai project.

- an internal search engine will harvest the visual and textual materials and display them in a distinct space in the Virtual Shanghai platform.

- external observers and experts, including the ANR (French National research Agency) can follow the progress of the project.
